Sunday Club meets every Sunday except for Family Service Sundays and “specials”, when we join with the rest of the Church Family for the whole of the service. We have between 8 and 12 children attending, ranging in age from 4 to 13+.
We often take part in or lead services during the year such as the Sunday School Anniversary in May and also one of the services in Advent.
Many of our events planned for 2020 didn’t take place, such as Prize Giving and The “Giant Wiggle for Action for Children. However, it wasn’t all bad. We still managed (even when not meeting or meeting while “socially distanced”) to be part in the life and work of the Church in various ways:
- Some of our members completed a challenge for Action for Children which raised over £300.
- Sunday Club contributed to the Advent Bags, with the older children writing prayers for each week in Advent, and others provided a picture.
- A similar “bag of goodies” has been provided for the Lent & Easter period, and the children have also received a knitted Easter Chick complete with a treat inside.
- More recently, some of the children have been given a card making pack to make a Mother’s Day card.
Our aim now we are meeting again, is to continue to share God’s Word with the children and young people in an interesting and creative way, to make cards and gifts for special occasions and to continue to taking part in services and worship as part of the Church Family here at Lye.
